Courses

  • B.A LL.B integrated double degree course combines bachelors degree course in Arts together with the bachelors degree course in law.
  • The duration of the B.A LL.B course shall be five academic years consisting of ten semesters.
  • LL.B Three year degree course shall be of 3 years duration spread over Six Semester.
  • Each Academic Year shall be divided into two semesters.
  • Each Semester shall consist of 18 weeks
  • The papers and the syllabus shall be as given in the schedule appended to these regulations.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION OF B.A LL.B 5 YEARS COURSE

    • An applicant who has successfully completed Per-university course or senior secondary school course (“+2″) or equivalent such as (11+1,”A” level in senior school leaving certificate course ) from a recognized university of India or outside or from senior secondary board as equivalent, constituted or recognized by the union or by the state government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course , may apply for and be admitted into the course.
    • Provided that applicants who have obtained +2 higher secondary pass certificate or first degree certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission to the course.
    • Provided further that the applicants who have obtained 10+2 or graduation or post graduation through open universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission to the course.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION OF THREE YEAR LLB DEGREE COURSE

An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a university established by an Act of parliament or by a state legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a deemed to be university or foreign university recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian university by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for 3 year degree course in law leading to the conferment of LLB degree on successful completion of the regular programme conducted under these regulations.

    • Minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall not be below 45% of total marks in case of general category applicants & 40% of total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admission to the course shall be made strictly on the basis of the merit taking in to account total marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Provided that while making admission to the course reservation policy of the Government of Karnataka governing admission to higher educational institutions issued from time to time shall be applied.

TIMINGS

The Working hours of the College shall be between:
Forenoon: 9.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m.
Afternoon: 2.00 p.m to 4.30 p.m.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS

    • The examination shall be held at the end of each semester of the course ordinarily in December/January and June/July.
    • There shall be an Unit Test at the end of every month.
    • Attendance is compulsory for all tests and Examinations conducted by the college at Regular Intervals.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction in the 5year B.A, LL.B. degree course & 3years LL.B. degree shall be English. However, the examinees shall have the option to answer the question papers in the examination either in English or in Kannada.

ATTENDANCE

No student shall be permitted to appear for the end of Semester examination in a given course unless he/she has, to the satisfaction of the course teacher, fulfilled the course requirements and has put in not less than 75% attendance in the course concerned.

Provided that a student who had attended not less than 65% of classes in each of the subjects prescribed may be permitted to keep the term for reasons to be recorded in writing and to the satisfaction of the Principal of the College or the Dean of the Faculty as the case may be.

CARRY OVER PROVISION

Fifth year B.A.LL.B

    • No student shall be promoted to the next year of the course unless he/she has passed in a minimum of 2 subjects in each semester.
    • Students who have failed in a course may be permitted to repeat the following at the end of semester examination provided he/she makes an application to the principal of the college within prescribed time & pays the prescribed fee.

LL.B 3 years Course

    • Every student shall be promoted to the next higher class irrespective of the fact he has failed in any of the papers prescribed for the study.
    • Students are required to successfully complete the entire course within 6 years from admission to the course.

AWARD OF THE DEGREE
A student shall be eligible for the award of the 5year B.A.LL.B.Degree & LL.B 3years Degree after he/she has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all the semesters & has secured a minimum of 40% in the aggregate provided his or her character and conduct are found to be satisfactory during the course.

Award of ClassesThe award of classes shall be as under:

70% &aboveFirst Class with Distinction
60% & above but less than 70%First Class
50% & above but less than 60%Second Class
40% & above but less than 50%Pass Class
    • Ranks shall be declared at the end of all the semester examinations.
    • There shall be 10 Ranks in the order of Merit starting from the highest score in all the semester examinations put together.

IDENTITY CARDEvery student must possess identity card issued by the college. It should be brought to the college everyday without fail. Identity card should be properly maintained.

NSSThe college has NSS Units sponsored by University. It isopen to all the boys and girls of the college. This is done in order to inculcate sense of social commitment and nation-building in the young minds of students.

FOUNDERS DAY26th December is the birthday of the Founder Presideent Dr.Kurunji Venkatramana gowda. This day will be celebrated as the Founders day.

HOSTELSSeparate Hostel facilities have been provided for both men and women.
